The past couple of years have seen quite a bit of development around Marmolejo. If this is in any way associated with the expected rise in tourism that is bound to come as a result of the 'Key resorts' development at this moment in time can't be confirmed.

RECENT DEVELOPMENTS
* In the last two years there has been the opening of a Sunday market on the edge of Marmolejo (large enough to compete with that of a small city) at the edge of the Seville to Madrid Motorway on the outskirts of the town. Due to an incidient last year the market has been suspended for the moment.
* The costruction of a bypass (for no apparent reason) that provides an alternate route around Marmolejo instead of through Marmolejo.
* The renovation of 'The Balneario'
(The name given to a building and area 1 kilometre from Marmolejo on the way to "La dehesilla'.) In its glory days 'the Balneario' attracted the likes of Charlie Chaplin. In fact, in years gone by Marmolejo was host to 5 hotels as a result of the tourism generated by the Balneario.)The Balneario is what is termed as a medicinal water factory. Natural medicinal waters said to have healing properties.
* The local council have built olympic sized PUBLIC outdoor and indoor swimming pools. These opened last year. The complex also includes a cafe bar..............if beer , cocktails or other refreshments are required while lounging by the pool...........during those hot summer days
* Two further hotels are due to be built in the vicinity of the Baleneario (above). The hotels are to centre on health. There is talk of the area around the Balneario being turned into a heath resort. This in addition to the health packages being offered by the existing Hotel Balneario. One of the planned hotels is due to be a four star hotel with the other being a three star. Both of the proposed hotels aim to cater for up to 400 guests.
This would bring the number of hotels at the moment in Marmolejo to 4. Remember Marmolejo has only a population of 7500 inhabitants.........................at present.
